Hacking Rules

****The basic design for the magic system is theGoto Unlimited Mana system developed by S. John Ross, Second Revised Version (v3.0), January 1999 | Copyright © 1994 by Steve Jackson Games****

Here's how the new magic rules have been forged:
25 Threshold (T)/ 5 Recovery Rate (RR) Per hour.

Threshold can be increased 1 Character Point (CP) for on T. RR is automatically increased at a rate 1:5.

Example:
26 T/ 5 RR
27 T/ 5 RR
28 T/5 RR
29 T/5 RR
30 T/6 RR

In order for a magic user to use a spell they must first know the spell (By purchasing it like a skill). A PC must seek out someone to teach the spells they wish to learn.

The level of Mana in the area from which the spell is casted can have an effect on the outcome of the spells.

Mana:
The Planet of Ryanus is Rich in Mana. Although there are area of little or no Mana. The Moons of Ryanus are void of all Mana. Making spell casting within the doomed cities impossible.

A spellcaster can detect the level of mana if they posess the Magery advantage.

A Level 1 mage can deternine the Mana level at a roll of 8 or less.
A Level 2 mage can determine the Mana level at a roll of 11 or less.
A Level 3 mage can determine the Mana level at a roll of 13 or less.

The mana levels are listed:
- Very High
- High
- Normal
- Low
- None

Time to required to cast a spell:
Each spell requires concentration before it can be cast. This time is measured in game turns. A spell caster can do nothing during the concentration turns but focus on the spell. Any attempting an action, dodging an attack, being hit, can cause the spell caster to loose concentration and have to start over. Skills rolls can be made to maintain concentration.
After Concetnration has been completed the spell caster makes a skill roll to perform the spell. Once the spell is completed (good or bad) the caster can then perform a second task, ready a second spell, fight, etc.

Magic Riturals:
No spells can be completed without some sort of ritual. The ritual required is based on the level at which the caster knows the spell. The better the caster knows the spell the less is required.

Skill level:
11 or below: Both hands, both feet and freedom of speech is required.
12 - 14: Few quite words and simple hand gestures.
15 - 17: A word or 2 a couple of finger movements. (Any spell at the this level costs 1 less energy point to cast)
