GM: Jace is headed for the store when he sees someone coming his way. He quickly realizes it's his team commander ELV. ELV immediately reconizes Jace. ELV: Nara??? "Jace, I see you've made it out of the jungle. What have you learned so far? Any idea what the hell happened? Also what has transpired since we've landed for him. I introduce Xer." GM: ELV looks to introduce Xer but she isn't there. She didn't follow ELV into the town. ELV: Okay well. "Dude you missed this hot chick named Xer... Sorry. I still do the information trade." Jace: "Commander you OK, i dont see anyone with you?" ELV: "Not much info on what we where doing or what happened, but i did learn about the locals a little. There are Mohawk bandits running around, was told there are Lizard people in the jungle to watch out for, the currency is stones, this town is Gari, the nearest big city is Faki to the east on the coast, and each town has its own garrison. Not much else sad to say." "By the way who is Xer and Nara?" ELV: "Nara I've never heard of but Xer helped to locate this town. I've been given all of the same information as you. Okay two of us found our way here, and we are all trained well, the others should find their way here eventually as well. Priority 1 is to get the team back together. But we are sitting ducks like this. Have you acquired any trading material yet? We need to arm up before continuing." Frank who/what is Nara? How many people are there in my core team? Jace: "Works for me Sir, only thing i got was this Blaster from those bandits and i Vibro knife i had before. Other then that nothing of value. I was headed to the general store to see what was there, or might head to the bar for a game of chance who knows." GM: Nara is the planet you're on. Team had 5 members, Plus the Pilot and co-pilot. Total of 7 bodies. Jace: [Question about Jace, he has first level Area Knowledge i believe is that going to help me here or just in the city we are from?] GM: [It's for the area you're from.] Just to make sure everyone is on the right page - Although you guys are using the same character sheets this is totally different campaign. It takes place in a whole on a whole new planet in a whole new galaxy. The characters memories before the nice gentle landing on Nara was of being members of star faring military. The team was an elite Special Forces unit (The Black Dragon Team 1). Team size - 5 (Team leader, Team 2nd in command, 1 Senior sargent and 1 sargent and 1 private.) The flight also had a pilot and co-pilot. Let me know if you need anymore background info. GM: So what's the plan? Jace: Waiting for orders ELV: We head into the general store. Priority 1 arm up. Priority 2 reconstitute the team. ELV: How did you get the Blaster from the Bandits? Ask nicely? Jace: "One quick move." "Was headed out with her but got slowed up and forced to move on my own." "How we gona arm up with out any stones?" following ELV GM: ELV and Jace arrive at the general store. People are walking in an out. They get an occasional look but nothing major. ELV: How did you get the Blaster from the Bandits Jace? GM: Jace explains the entire encounter with the bandits. He took the blaster from the scout. In attempt to get info out of her he ended up knocking her out. As he was headed away from the bandit camp he encountered more bandits. They let him leave with the blaster. ELV Hmn. Okay. Jace we are about to have some fun. Can you create a diversion without getting killed. As he does this I'm going to go shopping. Jace: How many people are in the store? How big is the store? How many exits can i see? "If you say so Sir." GM: The store is small with everything in one room. There are about 5 people in the store including the clerk. All the shelves are about shoulder high. The shelves have general supplies etc. There's a front door and a curtain leading to a back area. The weapons rack is behind the counter and is locked. (figured you'd be looking for that) Jace: "here we go" I walk up to the guy at the counter and introduce my self. "Hi my name is Jace, and i am going from town to town talking with the general store owners to see if they are in need of a new security system. Do you currently have a security system for this store?" GM: "I don't need a security system I've got a keen eye," replies the clerk. Jace: "You know thats exactly what my last client said in Faki." "I didnt catch your name sir?" GM: "I don't have time for this," says the clerk. Jace: "Give me just a second and let me show you how i can save you worry and stones with the proper securtiy system, follow me." I walk over through the store headed to the windows feeding lines about the security system GM: The diversion is in full swing. ELV do your thing. ELV: I begin breathing. Preparing to go invisible... Two rolls coming. [FYI, I want to pick up some extra skills before we get too far into this adventure. I need some merc type stuff. Any good leads on which book to use or just go with the standard gurps? Also I cannot get access to my character from work any more. Do I have any sleight of hand/pickpocket skills?] # invisibility: 12 12 GM: With Jace providing the distraction ELV goes invisible. What items are you gonna take? ELV: Hahahha, Funny you should ak as I've always wanted to say this.... "Guns, lots of guns." I look into the cabinet, what is inside? GM: Begin quote: "The weapons rack is behind the counter and is locked. (figured you'd be looking for that)" End quote. ELV: [Frank, I was feeling feisty so forgive me in advance for the following. I had fun writing and blowing off some steam .] Thanks for the USELESS quote. Does this mean I can't see in it? BEGIN my USEFUL QUOTE: > GM: With Jace providing the distraction ELV goes > invisible. What items are you gonna take? In order to tell you what items I want to take I need to know what items are in there... Otherwise, I'll take 2 geo-thermonuclear detonators with plutonium dead man switches, 4 gauss rifles, 4 pounds pure grade semtex, energy/bullet proof vests, and umm.. 6 of those blunderbuss land mines. Whoooo, that was fun! Okay, honestly before you get pissed... I was only playing. Now that I sent it I feel horrible...] GM: [Whatever.... Guess if you weren't giving me hell. I'd think you didn't love me no more.....] The cabinet is a glass display cabinet, on pegs are rifles (bullet and beam weapon) and pistols (bullet and beam weapon). There is ammo and batteries. Examining the case there doesn't appear to be any security other than the lock. [hope this helps, if it doesn't I know you'll tell me!] ELV: This will sound like an "after the fact" plan but i did have an intention of taking the guy outside to have a look see. At some point i will see if i can get him to follow. GM: The guy is trying to keep working, he won't leave the store, but he is in the isle. As Jace tries to talk to him. People are watching as the clerk get annoyed. ELV: I'm going for the beam weapons and the batteries. As many as I can comfortably carry. Is it actually locked? If so I'm going to use my lock picking to pick it. GM: Yes it's locked. Send one roll for the lock and one roll to maintain invisibility at (-2) GM: Alright, lets move this along. ELV gets the lock picked. He is able to grab 2 rifles, 2 pistols, 4 batteries and still maintain his invisibility. Slean and ELV exit the general store and meet in an alley across the street. Next? Jace: "And that wraps up my presentation of our security system, Would you like to purchase it today?" If not "Thanks for your time and have a great day." Then exit out the front door. ELV: [Damn, That's what I get for taking a vacation eh? I should do that more often.] Jace: Let's go find some trouble. I want to head back to find the people that helped me find the village. I want to ask them to help me track the rest of the team down. GM: As they are talking in the alley they here people yelling in the streets. They peak out to see the store keeper yelling he's been robbed. People are gathered around him. The sheriff and two deputies arrive. ELV: Jace, Exit stage 3. We are getting out of dodge. GM: Jace and ELV manage to make it back to the outskirts of town and head back in the direction of the clan camp. ELV: Guard up.... I'm on the lookout for sentries. I've already explained to Jace how these guys are, so I tell him to be ready for anything. GM: ELV and Jace are able to roughly follow the path to the camp. They arrive in the camp area. All the clan members draw pistols and take aim. The leader steps forward. "What are you doing back? And what is he doing with you?" Jace: This wouldn't be the same group i ran into would it? GM: Yep, hence the negative reaction. ELV explained on the way back to the camp that he ran into the group just after Jace's encounter with them. Jace: Ok so what did you grab from the locker chief? ELV: What do i have as far as a weapon now? GM: [Kimo, this is the Inventory, Frank, we would have divided this up equally among us in the woods. Even though I did into specify it... ELV gets the lock picked. He is able to grab 2 rifles, 2 pistols, 4 batteries and still maintain his invisibility.] "This is a member of my team..." I have more of a response but... [Since Kimo already filled me in, you mind telling me the part that was left out? The part that is that is driving this kind of response..??? Then I can try to bullshit my way out of this.] GM: A scout found Jace spying on the camp. She held her gun on him while she waited for backup. He took the gun from then forced her to walk away from the camp. When she didn't move fast enough he knocked her out. The group found him with him with her and recovered her. Jace: "It was just a misunderstanding I am sure, besides the chic wouldn't answer anything I asked" I make sure every weapon I have is stowed, with my hands in plain sight ELV: Hehehe... Damn... It's a wonder they don't kill us now... All I can ask is... Was her a$s sore when she woke up??? GM: "What do you want?" asks the leader abit annoyed. ELV: "Uh.. Well uh.. Hmn..." Given that explanation I have trouble asking for help.... "We were wondering if you have happened upon any more of our team members. And if not you were the only ones I thought to seek help from." Jace: [In a whisper] "Humm by the way Sir it wasnt "that" kind of beat down" ELV: ... Sure... It wasn't . GM: "No we haven't seen anyone else from your group. What kind of help do you need and what do you have to give in return?" ... Guns, lots of guns... No really - "I just need to assemble my team so we can figure out what has gone wrong. In return I ask you what would you have from us that we can offer? As before our services can be rendered. And once my team is assembled, believe me we are a force to be reckoned with." GM: "This is a very large forrest and your team could be anywhere. The sighting of lizard men makes the chances of you finding your team even harder. But There might be something you can do in return for our help. The town you found your friend in is not particularly fond of my people. One of my young men got to close to the town and arrested by the local law. Free him and we'll provide you with a map of the forrest, including towns, cities, and areas to be aware of," ELV: Bout time you threw us a bone... "I accept. Give me a description of your guy. Is there only one holding area?" GM: "You'll know him when you see him. We believe he's being held in the town jail," ELV: "Okay, Jace, let's go. I want to time this so that we get to town by nightfall." [Before I go any further I need to go shopping for some skills. I should have some things cooked up tomorrow Frank.] Jace: I should too but i would hold things up if i did, i am ready to go. GM: ELV [with new skills] and Jace head back towards the town. It's still well lite outside. It's been about 5 hours since they were last in the town so things have calmed down. However there are still deputies patrolling the streets, more visible than the first visit. ELV: Let's head in cautiously. We need to find the jail and do a recon of the area. Just the outside perimeter first. Also looking at the surrounding buildings to see if anyone is watching the jail externally. Jace: Whats the general make up of the buildings? Are we talking Steel and Stone or old west style wood buildings? GM: From the outside perimeter there's no sign of a jail. You'll need to head deeper into the town and you'll need stealth to do it. [Jace doesn't have stealth but I'll give it too him as part of character improvement.] Both players will make a stealth check (-1 modifier). The deeper you get into town the more modifiers you can expect. GM: These are old west wood style building. ELV: # Stealth: 11 Jace: # Stealth: 15 GM: [This maybe a short trip!] Jace and ELV head into town. They are making their way from one alley to the next when an old lady spots Jace. ELV is just ahead of Jace and is unnoticed. She screams and points, "it's one of them." ELV: Hehe, I was just thinking the same thing... Jace: I say we duck around the corner and find a door to get into ELV: Not much choice. Nearest door that we can duck into. I begin my breathing for invisibility. If I am successful I will remain outside of the door while Jace heads in. Roll coming. GM: [ELV getting good rolls isn't that an urban legend?] GM: ELV and Jace head back down the alley. ELV: # Breathing/Invisibility: 6 8 Jace finds an open door and heads in. ELV becomes invisible just outside. Inside Jace is in the storage area of a leather shop. Jace: Looking out for activity. Staying still and quiet. What did this lady do? Do I hear anything? GM: She's still screaming and yelling. ELV: All right for get this nice guy crap... Invisible, I'm knocking her out. Sounds like no one is responding yet. I should have thought of doing this first. I gotta stop being such a nice guy. I'm no spy anymore I'm a kick ass commando.... I'm no spy anymore I'm a kick ass commando.... I'm no spy anymore I'm a kick ass commando.... Okay... She's going down. Nice a quiet like. With the but of the pistol. GM: ELV to the edge of the alley. There are several people around her now. Three garrison troops approach the group. The old lady points at the alley. Jace: Ok i want the door closed and to inspect the area, any windows, doors, trap doors visable, or celluar doors? What can i tell is going on outside? GM: Jace closes the door behind him. He can't hear anything going outside now. Looks around there's no windows in this room and there are two doors, one leading into the alley and one leading into the store area. Jace: I check the door going to the store and listen to see if there is any activity on the other side, also i look to block the door with something GM: Jace listens at the door, there are customers in the store talking and looking around. There are several items that can be used to block the door, boxes and barrels. Jace: I stack a few of the boxes in front of the door as quietly as possible. Then i head back to the ally door and listen out there. GM: Jace is at the door to the shop listening. He doesn't hear anything. ELV is invisible at the edge of the alley. He sees the old lady talking to several civilians when a three man patrol approaches the group. They begin talking and the old lady points to the alley. The patrol heads in that direction. The leader is talking into his radio. Jace: I wait till i can make out sounds from the alley to make any move ELV: Sigh... Woe is me. Welcome back El, vacations over. Okay since I can't be seen, I head to the store where Jace went in an quickly tell him to wait for my distraction. Then I head down the alley further and open up the first door that will open. I then wait for them to appear around the corner, and make a point to let them see the door closing. This should get their attention. Ah hah.... Take that screwy wabbit. GM: ELV goes to work. The patrolmen fall for it. With weapons ready, One stays in the alley while the other two go inside to check it out. ELV: Okay, Him, I'm going to just try to take out silently. Sleeper jab. GM: [Sleeper jab? You don't have that equipment remember] ELV: Doh, that's right. The butt of my rifle will work just as well. GM: Send that roll. ELV: Done.... And don't forget. I'm invis'd. Not that you would forget so crucial a piece. GM: [I know you're invisible. I just made your cause I know you're prone to screw up even the easiest of rolls] # Knock out: 10 GM: He goes down. ELV is STILL INVISIBLE! ELV: Haha... Very funny. The only thing about to be screwed up is your plans. Cause I got a big ole monkey wrench with your name on it. I'm dragging him back to the room where Jace is. Jace: Let me know when i hear or see anything so i aint dead weight on these e-mails!!! hehehe way to go ELV ELV: Game is on!!! GM: Jace opens the door and ELV pulls the trooper inside. ELV: Quickly look out anyone enter back into the street yet? If not we should sit tight until late nightfall. We don't want to draw attention to what we wish to do. At this point they do not know that we are interested in the jail house. GM: No one else in the alley, ELV closes the door. The handheld radio clicks and then a voice is heard, "This is A06-01 no sign of the suspects here. A06-03 any sign of them out there?" The radio is pretty loud. ELV rushes to turn it down. ELV: Doh. Continue to listen in. Search this guy for everything he has. GM: "A06-03, report. Base I think we've got a problem," "No sign of him out here!" says a second voice. "This is base patrol commander, patrols A07 and A08 report to area immediately, we have possible missing soldier," "This is A07-01 we're on our way," "This is A08-01, we're on our way," Equipment list: - One ID card - One pistol - One Rifle - Hand cuff (metal) - Stun rod - radio ELV: Also lock the door. Shit are we in for it. Hunker down. Jace: I grab the radio "This is A06-03, theres no sign of them anywhere near here. Someone said they saw our guys heading out of town to the north though, i am going to check it out." GM: "A06-03 report your location at once," Jace: "Headed north through town to investigate" GM: "This is base, A06-03 return to your unit at once! A07 check out the north siting. A08 report the alley way. I want that area secure!" Coming from the door leading into the store. "I'll see what we've got in the back," the door knob turns but the stuff Jace put against the door doesn't budge. Jace: Crap, we are screwed! What now ELV! [is he still invised?] GM: Nope, Invisiblity art takes a lot of concenstration. ELV: Well actually, this wise guy just dispatched the other units to the other areas, I would say this is our time to get the hell out of dodge. I am going to take a peak out to see if anyone is still in the are on the other side. If I need to re-invis -> let me know. GM: No need to take a peek, ELV and Jace heard voices in the alley. Two of them. "Mike is in trouble again," "Yeah I know," ELV: Going invisible again. Then sliding out. Jace I may need a distraction this time. Rolls coming. Jace: I want to put the guys uniform on ASAP and wear the pistol he had. ELV help me tuck this guy in a corner and make sure hes gona be out for a while. ELV: # Invisibility again: 8 11 GM: Jace gets the uniform on as ELV begins to concentrate and goes invisble. He opens the door and heads outside. When the door opens the two men in the alley raise their rifles and take aim at the opening to the door. [There's no way to open the door without being noticed since they are in the alley and alert.] The seperate so they are standing about 5ft appart. One gives the signal to the other one to move up. ELV: What time of day is it? Are there shadows anywhere at all? I whisper to Jace, stay out of site get the first one in here. I'll take out the guy outside. We must keep them from using the radios. We are going to hit them both at the same time. Jace: I take my place by the door ready for whos coming through. GM: ELV moves off into position behind the man outside. Jace gets into position just inside. Send me your actions and your rolls. ELV's man doesn't get a reaction but Jace's does. ELV: Once the other guy steps inside, I hit this one in the back of the head with the rifle, I want him down for the count. Roll coming. # Butt of gun: 10 Jace: I want to wait till i see the gun coming through the door, then I want to grab the gun with one hand and throw an elbow to the temple with the other arm. roll coming Jace: The Stealth dice roll was for the elbow not for stealth, figures too i make a damn knock out roll and not stealth!!!!!! # Stealth: 11 # Nara: GM Dodge: 11 GM: Both men down without a fight. ELV: Drag them all into this room. Bind em, gag em. Is it nightfall yet? I also want to suit up In one of their uniforms. GM: [it's always in the details] No it's about mid day. ELV: Whoops, Okay Jace we roll with it. These guys are not going to be missed for long. We have to move now. I recommend we head up to the jail for some recon. Wit hour new digs we will attract less attention but again the element of surprise will not be with us long. My plan. You radio them back as the last guy's voice you did and say you've spotted them clear on the other end of town and call for backup then yell like somebody just reamed you from behind with no Vaseline. While they are converging on you over there we go in. These guys have keys/key cards on them? Jace input, it's now or never. Jace: Sounds good to me, with my best acting voice i call it in yelling and whooping it up then dropping off the radio with total silence. ELV: Anyway we can detect if these radios have tracing devices or anything the the guards might have been carring have that kind of thing? GM: ELV and Jace get into the uniforms. Jace prepares to talk. "All units this is base. We just got a call from Sam's and he says his store room door is jammed and it sounds like people in there. A08 move it. A06 hold your position until help arrives," Equipment list: - One ID card - One pistol - One Rifle - Hand cuff (metal) - Stun rod - radio ELV: This is not good. I poke my head outside. We HAVE to move quickly. These were the only two guys in the area that were left behind. We have but a few minutes estimated. I poke my head out to see if the way is clear. If it is, we move these two guys (over our shoulders) to the other room just down the way that they checked already and we were not there. Since they went in we know the door is unlocked. GM: The coast is clear. ELV and Jace get the guys moved over to the next building. ELV: I think we should get into the jail building quickly. Time is critical now. Our gig is soon to be up. You got that right but we got one more to move the first guy i knocked out we need to move too. When thats done we need to get going. Okay change in plans. We need to regroup. We are highly trained commandos. We do not go rushing into buildings with no entry plan, no escape plan, no idea where the package is, no idea what the package is (he may have been a mass murderer for all we know) etc. So Frank what I want to do is get the hell out of dodge until night fall. We leave these guys where they are. Head back to the outskirts of town. Bury these uniforms where they won't be seen, cover our tracks the whole way. Once we have regrouped that far we'll plan something out. We have seen the enemy and he is fairly organized. The way to work Frank out is to stretch that imagination of his. But I see this heading into the abyss where Frank eventually says "No body said rush head first into the building with guns blazin". We keep the radios on us though. Mount up, move'em out. GM: [DAM! DAM! DAM! He figured me out. Oh well! I know you two you'll give me more chances!] ELV: Hehe... I know you were just hoping we'd dig ourselves into more and more $hit. Jace: Crap so thats what i been doing wrong all this time!!!!! there was a web right infront of me and i didnt see it!!!! Ok good idea lets regroup ELV: Okay Frank, hit it. Heading out of town as directed. GM: What formation are you taking out of town? Side by side, One up front and one in the back? I'll need a roll to cover your tracks (based on Tracking skill). Your direction is east - where are you headed? ELV: Just to the outskirts. Jace gets point, I'm bringing up the rear. Covering the tracks roll coming. # tracking 9 GM: They arrive just on the outskirts of town. Tracks are covered. What's the plan? ELV: Let's hide these uniforms, slip back into our old gear. Recon will be difficult considering this is a city. We need... Change of close Rough disguises (wigs, etc. which should be available from a general store). Watch the town outskirts until midnight. When all looks clear we are heading to the general store some breaking and entering. Jace if you think of anything add it in to the list. Jace: A bit of rope might be needed too, dont want this guy we are picking up to cause us any trouble. Didn't the suits we took come with restraints of some sort? GM: [you know, I should put all the clues into the body of the message since ELV never reads it! they hand cuffs are on the equipment list, i've sent twice. But I guess the magnifying glass isn't working the way he use too???? :}] Yes a set of hand cuffs. Jace: His sight might be bad but you havent delt with my memory yet, or have you i forget. Hand cuffs good no need for rope, i say we are off. Oh is there a set of keys with the cuffs? =) GM: Back in their original flight suits Jace and ELV move out. Where are you headed outskirts north, etc? ELV: I belive so headed out the way we can in Uh, I knew that seamen schmuckatelli. The question was more rhetorical! It's not MY FAULT you have no sense of humor. Just wait till I get out there!!! Unless there is a more direct outskirts. The one we can see with the best vantage point from. You said before this was like a western town. So is the layout your typical main street with all the stores outlining the main drag. All the houses are behind those on your back streets. If so I'd venture to say the jail is likely in the center of town? So they make a spectacle of all of those hangings??? The outskirts are usually a prairie clearing all the way around the town to see trouble coming BEFORE it gets there, then woods beyond? Is that accurate? If so we are going to the North to do the stash and change, then back into the prairie portion and laying low. I want a vantage point looking right into the center of town. GM: [Details, I'm impressed! and that's what I wanted.] Your assumptions of the town layout appear to hold true. Although you haven't confirmed the location of the jail. You find you way to the north end of town and have a good look down the center of town. ELV: Alright Jace, you get lookout. 1. Change the radio frequencies to highest possible frequency after noting what frequency was being used currently. 2. Maintain radio silence unless it is an emergency. If it is an emergency we'll use commando clicks only. (as commando team mates I would say we have a system in place for communicating via radio if need be without speaking, hell we could use morse code for all I care). 3. This means mister invisible here gets to verify the jail location. Being very careful with Jace watching my back, I will risk heading into town to verify the location of the jail, using invisibility art. Warn me Jace if you see anything funky. Jace: Night time works for me as well cause (if i rember right) of my night vision. On lookout ready to play eagle eye GM: Night hasn't fallen yet. However, Jace finds decent cover and can see down the main street. It's still pretty busy. ELV send your rolls. ELV: Nope. I ain't fallin for it. NIGHTFALL.
